Get started
Install → Connect an AI → Choose a working folder → Ask your first question.
Start your first task in a newly opened app.
Before you start
orke brings multiple AIs and terminals together in one workspace. You need the CLI and a signed-in account for each AI you want to use. NVIDIA is included with orke and uses an API key.
We recommend using “My PC” for your first task. You can set up an isolated environment and remote access after trying a task.
Try your first task
Install and open orke
On Windows, install from the Microsoft Store link on the homepage. On Mac, open the downloaded DMG, move orke to Applications, and launch it. For a Linux server, follow Install on a Linux server and open orke in a browser.
On first launch, sign in to orke with your Google account. Once you finish signing in on the official approval page, the workspace opens, and this PC remembers your account for future launches. Signing in to orke is separate from signing in to an AI. Find the Dock at the bottom of the window and look around the workspace.
✓You can see the orke workspace.
Connect an AI
In Settings › AI accounts, check the current account for the AI you want to use. If you have not installed its CLI or signed in yet, complete AI setup and accounts first. Select the AI you prepared when choosing an agent for a new session.
For a straightforward first experience, choose ChatGPT or Claude if you are already signed in. The task uses the current account selected in Settings › AI accounts.
✓The selected AI is installed and signed in.
Choose a working folder for a new session
Open “New session,” then choose your AI and “My PC.” The working folder is where the files for this task are located.
Create and select an empty folder named Documents/orke-practice so you can easily find the results of this first exercise.
✓An AI terminal opens in the selected folder.
Ask for something small
Use “My first orke task” as the title and list three things to do today.
If the AI asks you to approve a file change or tool action, read the request and check whether the action is needed for this task.
✓Check the AI’s response and the hello.md file it created.
Return to work after closing a window
Closing a terminal window or tab closes that view. You can reopen a running session from the task list. To end the session itself, use the explicit end action. Quitting the entire orke app also ends running sessions.
Closing a web tab closes that web page. Keep the distinction between closing a terminal window and ending a session in mind.
What to try next
Learn to reopen work in Sessions and terminals, then save work in a form you can run again with Packages.
